  • ALBERT!!!! - worked with IT to learn how to help students and staff navigate our new technology

(also had to work with Albert to ensure each of our database subscriptions worked on new system)


  • CAPSTONE & VOG - researched what is needed for student’s successful completion


  • VLP - learned VLP procedures 


  • Professional reading  - all year - read 50-100 books a year & I read a variety of library, educational & technology through blogs and professional literature


  • What's New in Destiny Library Manager 19.0 Webinar - Follett -  October 2021


  • Contributor to Media Literacy for Justice book, published 2022






Indicator 4b: Collaborating to develop and sustain a professional learning environment to support student learning


  • Teacher Collaboration/Support - (seems weird to include this because this is the essence of my role as a school librarian) 

-  Work with teachers and students on a variety of projects, large and small.        

A few examples of new collaborations this year : 

  • Worked with teachers to troubleshoot tech issues 

  • T. Smith - created, updated, and guided students to record their CAP work in a slide deck that allowed for teacher feedback through the process.

  • Created documents with procedures for  Capstone & VOG teachers

  • Created research guides for Capstone project

  • Taught Freshman how to create and use their VOG site - made sure every student in Freshman class completed 

  • Worked with Jr teachers to help students select their Capstone project and research topics - made sure every junior had a project & knew what to do

  • Provided PD for teachers to learn how to upload VOG artifacts with students

  • Collaborated with teachers on Freshman Research Project  

  • Assisted teachers with virtual reality field trips




Indicator 4c: Working with colleagues, students, and families to develop and sustain a positive school climate that supports student learning


  • Supported & helped promote a  student run book club


  • Attended at least 12 school events including : Football scrimmage @ Westerly HS, Women in Music, Meet the Choirs, Women in Leadership, NHS Induction , Addams Family, NAHS art project. Christmas Pops, student art show in Mystic, student art show Westerly, INTERACT club breakfast with Rotary (showcased VR and talked about LEAF)


  • Used Twitter and Instagram professionally to share information with students, highlight and discuss books and to communicate/celebrate students 


  • Contributed to 3 of the school newsletters this year


  • Coordinated use of the library as the box office during the school day to help reduce classroom teacher interruptions 


  • Coordinated use of the library as central location to distribute and sell yearbooks to help reduce classroom teacher interruptions


  • Sent notes and emails to students throughout the year - thank yous and notes of encouragement


  • Introduced students to library at freshman orientation sessions


  • Organized Summer Reading Raffle for students to read for fun - participation grows every year!

Indicator 4b: Collaborating to develop and sustain a professional learning environment to support student learning.
  • Work with Freshman Humanities teachers & special ed team to revise and improve introductory research project.
  • Work with new Ag teacher to implement video projects to document learning throughout semester.
  • Created more student friendly LibGuides, accessible to variety of learning styles.
  • Worked with new elementary librarian and middle school librarian and the paras. Took on admin role for district library catalog (importing and updating all the patrons annually). Taught how to use Destiny Discover interface.

  • Introduced students to library at Freshman Orientation August 21, 2019 Orientation Kahoot
  • Created a Media Recording Studio in library for student and staff use.
  • Organized Summer Reading Raffle for students to read for fun - with school related prizes (music passes, athletic passes, yearbooks,etc)
  • Used Twitter and Instagram professionally to share information with students, highlight and discuss books and to communicate/celebrate students
  • Contributed to 3 of the school newsletters this year
  • Coordinated use of the library as the box office during the school day to help reduce classroom teacher interruptions

Teacher Collaboration/Support - (seems weird to include this because this is the essence of my role as a school librarian)

    • C. Malavazos - reworked To Kill A Mockingbird research to include lesson on visual literacy, primary source images and connecting themes to real world current events - see blog post here
    • Breakouts - prepared, assisted and taught teachers how to use Breakout games to enhance learning.
    • Collaborated on Inter-discplinary Freshman Research Project  - see blog post here
    • WeVideo Professional development & co-teaching-  Mrs. Hargus with French Revolution student video project & Mrs. Hanover with horticulture video project.
    • Assisted Mrs. Marciano & students with Podcasting, - see blog post here
    • Researched legality of posting LHS music concert archive online
    • Collaborated with E. Dubreuil to update and create  lessons and student projects for digital literacy teacher at LMS
    • Assisted teachers at both LMS and LHS with virtual reality
    • Taught art teacher at LMS how to organize digital tools
    • Assisted Mrs. Fagan with planning and materials for music appreciation class.
  • LMS Transition Team -  team that worked with consultants to plan for 6th grade transitions to LMS
  • District Motion Picture License -  researched and advocated for district license, provided to S. Williams
  • Assisted APO with Google Forms -  to monitor senior sign out

Assist LMS School Counselors with Google and technology - periodically throughout school year. 


LHS LibGuide - 2016-2017 - Continually updating and modifying the LHS LibGuide to include new information and web sites for classes, tutorials about new databases and products.  Created a collection of News Literacy resources for students and teachers to use.  


Created LibGuide for LMS - Winter-spring 2017.  Creating a virtual library with databases. The LibGuide will have links to all library resources and I am working with teachers collecting their classroom web site information and lists of sites they use with students.  With a click on LIBRARY from the LMS homepage students will have all resources and links t they need instead of having to remember multiple sites for different classes.  I am creating tutorials  as well.  LibGuides are used at LHS and at the college level as well so this will be preparing them for those transitions as weell.  I will teach students about it in the fall when it is completed.
